Deborah Ehrlich’s crystal captures her background in sculpture – it was while studying sculpture that she swapped an analytical approach for one of intuition and openness. After meticulously designing her contemporary forms, she passes them to her craftsman in Sweden who utilises traditional blowing, cutting and polishing techniques to realise the pieces. The results are intriguingly and beautifully paradoxical: simple yet complex, light but sturdy, powerful yet subtle.
