1960s Gianmaria Potenza La Murrina Murano Glass Vase (12in/30cm)
£1,985.00
Born on and named after the Venetian glassmaking island of Murano, murrina is a highly skilled technique that artisans have been perfecting as far back as the Renaissance. The decorative practice involves creating a patterned glass rod or “cane” with a specific design. The canes are then sliced into cross-sections and used to adorn other pieces. In the case of this 1970s Gianmaria Potenza design, the technique is used to create concentric circles of blue that are splashed across the crystal vase in a haphazard ring. Please note, this item is a truly original vintage piece with slight imperfections and distinctive characteristics that add to its charm and celebrate its unique history.
